More than ever, Pappy Van Winkle’s Bourbon remains difficult to find and expensive. For those unfamiliar with bourbon, this brand is a highly sought-after lineup of bourbons aged from 10 to 23 years old, released only once a year produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery since 2002.
Today, you can own a piece of the barrels in which the premium bourbon is aged. More specifically, you’ll be able to walk on this wood because Wolverine recently released 1000 Mile x Old Rip Van Winkle boots using Pappy Van Winkle barrels for their heels.
The heels of these boots are made of Bourbon barrel, and the grey-black Deville leather from Horween Leather Company in Chicago is meant to evoke the charred oak of the barrels that must be used to age bourbon, and each pair has a hand-numbered Old Rip Van Winkle tag on the tongue. The new Wolverine boots have a certain cost but all proceeds benefiting the mikerowe WORKS Work Ethic Scholarship and the National FFA Organization, both of which support young people pursuing careers in agricultural science and skilled trades.
