April 2.2022

Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, Saigon Children’s Charity (saigonchildren) launched a walking challenge, named The Steps Challenge 2022, to raise funds and awareness towards autism spectrum disorder. The Steps Challenge is an annual event by Saigon Children’s Charity to promote knowledge about autism, and at the same time, raise funds for activities supporting children on the autism spectrum that the charity is doing.

For its fourth edition, The Steps Challenge calls on the community to partake in a 10-day walking challenge with the goal of at least 42,000 steps, representing World Autism Awareness Day, April 2nd. With a fee of VND250,000, each registration directly funds saigonchildren’s projects supporting children with autism, such as workshop for parents, training for practitioners, and free early intervention therapy for children in disadvantaged circumstances.

First launched in 2019, The Steps Challenge has gained widespread recognition in the community through encouraging people to be active for their own health and for the benefit of society. In the previous three years, The Steps Challenge has accumulated over 450 million steps from 3,000 participants, and raised just under 1.5 billion VND.

100,000, 200,000, or 300,000 steps, are all not too big of a challenge for me, but I like the message that by diligently clocking steps we are contributing directly to supporting children with autism in disadvantaged circumstances move closer towards the most complete version of themselves” – and that was it, I decided to join. I believe in what saigonchildren has done and is doing for children with autism in Vietnam. I am aware that there will always be difficulties and challenges for teachers, experts, and parents, but with dedication, perseverance, and sacrifice, I believe that children with autism will soon receive the support that they deserve,” Hai, a participant and fundraiser of The Steps Challenge 2021, shared.

The Steps Challenge is an opportunity for people of all ages and physical abilities to participate in a meaningful community activity. This event is not only family-friendly with a manageable goal, but also a great opportunity for corporates to engage in CSR activities and employee engagement. Registration for The Steps Challenge is open until 4th May 2022 at https://thestepschallenge.com.
