The Hanoi Golden Lake hotel operating under the Wyndham Hotels brand, located on the bank of the Giang Vo Lake in Hanoi has surprised many passers-by with its glistering gold-plated facade shining day and night.
While hotels boasting gold-plated rooms or accessories are not new around the world, those using gold-plated tiles are rarer. The 25-floor hotel with 400 rooms, located by a lake in Ba Dinh District, is covered in 5,000-square-meters of gilded ceramics, with Gold-covered tiles floor on the roof terrace and internal design features also covered in real gold. Hotel guests can even expect to dine or cook with gold-coated cutlery. A gold-plated rooftop infinity pool is also another highlight of the Hanoien hotel.
Nguyen Huu Duong, general director of Hoa Binh Group declared that covering tiles with real gold required a complicated method and no investors or property developers would take the risks of having a property coated fully with gold. And even if someone wanted to do it, finding a tile manufacturer to do the job would no be simple.
Duong’s company itself has been able to manufacture the gold-plated tiles and accessories thanks to investments made earlier for others real estate projects like The Hoa Binh International Tower equipped with gold-plated lifts or the Hoa Binh Green Apartment, Hoa Binh Green City using real gold in some of their architecture parts or like the 920-room Danang Golden Bay hotel boasting a gold-plated rooftop infinity pool.
According to local media, one night at the Hanoi Golden Lake hotel would cost from $250 and the starting price to buy an apartment there is around $6,500 per meter square. The luxury hotel is expected to be complete just in time for the Formula One race next year in Vietnam.
