For a long time, women have been excluded from professional cooking as the cooking trade was largely built on masculine conventions. In spite of these pitfalls, women moved forward and made their own way in the industry. Today Out of 75 new Michelin stars, 11 were won by female chefs in 2019, a little 16% but still a better score than in 2017 with only 5%. Thanks to many initiatives who increased women Chef visibility these last years, Women took day after day their place in the culinary sphere and the feminization of the sector becomes incontrovertible.
This October 15-20, 2019, Sofitel Saigon Plaza and Disciples of Escoffier Vietnam present the 4th Saigon gourmet week edition and for a first an All Women Chefs culinary festival in Vietnam showcasing innovative menus delicately crafted by 3 Michelin-star Chefs and 6 Celebrity Chefs.
During the festival, Chefs will cook together for cooking classes, lunches, and dinners. Every event, every menu will be different to underline how subtle and innovative high gastronomy can be. The highlight of the week will be the Chefs Battle and the Gala Dinner on Saturday, 19 October 2019 at the Diamond Hall. During the Chefs battle, the gala will include a 4-course dinner for the guests crafted by Executive Chef Stephane Leforestier and his team. The festival will end in style with Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20th.
This year, the festival brings together Michelin-starred Cheffe Julia Komp (Germany), Michelin-starred Cheffe Flora Mikula (France), Michelin-starred Cheffe María José San Román (Spain), Celebrity Cheffe Anne-Cecile Degenne from Raffles & Fairmont Makati (France), Celebrity Cheffe Beatriz Gonzalez (Mexico – France), Celebrity Pastry Cheffe Keiko Nagae (Japan – France), Celebrity Cheffe Kimsan Sok (Cambodia), Celebrity Cheffe Georgiana Viou (France), and Celebrity Cheffe Angela Brown (UK – Australia), who heads the culinary brigade at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor
