The company has been selling plane tickets since January 19, 2021, on scheduled flights beginning this Monday, January 25. Launched last May 2020 by one of the largest tour operators in the country, Vietravel, is the seventh Vietnamese airline to operate in Vietnam after National Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Air Services (VASCO), Pacific Airlines, Bamboo Airways, low-cost Vietjet Air, and Hai Au Aviation (seaplane charters).
From Ho Chi Minh City-Tan Son Nhat as in Hanoi-Noi Bai, the two metropolises being interconnected, Vietravel Airlines offers flights to Danang and Phu Quoc airports. The southern base will also be linked to Nha Trang, while the capital will be linked to Hue. This is a network of seven domestic lines which should accommodate one million passengers by the end of the year. No future international destination has yet been identified, although regional services especially to ASEAN are part of its plans. “Hybrid” tariffs are supposed to be “halfway” between a low cost and a full-service company.
Vietravel Airlines CEO Vu Duc Bien said most of these routes will benefit from two daily rotations, with an increase in capacity planned for Tet (Lunar New Year). For the opening of reservations, the company offered some promotions: 50,000 tickets offered at 0 dong (excluding tax); vouchers of 200,000 VND (7.18 euros) valid for two flights were also distributed for the first 20,000 reservations.
The airline welcomed its first two Airbuses in Tan Son Nhat, with a A321 plan to accommodate 220 passengers, a third one is being expected in the coming days. They are all leased. By the end of 2022, Vietravel Airlines plans to operate eight aircraft.
