Nguyễn Văn Đủ is representives of the youngest generation of Vietnamese artists practicing painting today. His work explores personal perception, formed from the impact of education and daily routine of traditional culture in Vietnam. Open talk with Gabby Miller. Gabby Miller is an artist based in Los Angeles. She has also lived and worked extensively in Hanoi, Vietnam where she has organized projects with Nha San Collective and The Queer Forever Festival.

4 April – Opening Ceremony ‘Dreamland’ – Fine Art Museum – Paintings by Somsak Chaituch MFA

Somsak Chaituch is a Thai abstract and figurative expressionist artist combining both eastern and western art. The exhibition ‘Dreamland’ with 42 abstract expressionistic paintings is inspired on dreams of nature in all sparkling colors.

A great first in Asia, the famous French actor and writer, Lorànt Deutch will be touring Saigon on April 3rd and 4th, with a show from his new book: “Romanesque”. The show helps to support the projects of the NGO Poussières de Vie that provides Vietnam sustainable support for children in need.

13 April – Talk & Workshop: ‘Silver Gelatin As a Medium of Art’ – The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre

From 10.30 am – 5 pm

In this talk with Phạm Tuấn Ngọc, will share briefly about the history of light-sensitive materials, with a focus on the ‘silver gelatin’ process used in photography, as well as the overview of photography as an art. The talk will also focus on the silver gelatin process in relation to other photographic printing materials, as well as well-known photographers who used this image-making material.

During the workshop Phạm Tuấn Ngọc will engage participants directly in the silver gelatin process at Noirfoto, equipped with a dark room and a studio dedicated to a community of photography lovers in Saigon. At Noirfoto, you will be toured around the ‘darkroom’ and introduced to equipment, material, chemicals as well as the processing normally taking place at Noirfoto. In this workshop, three participants will be selected randomly to bring 1 negative each, whereby Noirfoto will demonstrate the process of developing B&W negative films.
