Spike Lee’s Vietnam-Centered ‘Da 5 Bloods’ Set For a Summer Release


The latest film from Spike Lee, titled ‘Da 5 Bloods’, about four African American war veterans on a journey back to Vietnam, will be available on Netflix on June 12.






‘Da 5 Bloods’ follows four African American veterans Vietnam seeking the remains of their fallen Squad Leader and the gold fortune he helped them hide. Its cast includes Chadwick Boseman, known for his role in Marvel’s ‘The Black Panther,’ Jean Reno, and Vietnamese actress and performer Ngo Thanh Van (Veronica Ngo). Ngo has previously appeared in American blockbusters like ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ as well as 2019s ‘Furie (Hai Phuong),’ released in both the US and Vietnam.










Lee visited Saigon last summer to scout potential locations for ‘Da 5 Bloods’, according to updates on his Instagram page. The film was shot between the US, Vietnam, and Thailand. Spike Lee won last year’s Academy Award for best adapted screenplay with ‘Blackkklansman’ and has been a fixture of American cinema since the 1980’s.
