February 21.2022

In Vietnamese, Bánh Mi means bread, referring to a crispy crumb-heavy baguette filled with a variety of delights, such as chả lụa sausage, rich pâté, deep-fried vegetable spring rolls, slices of giò thủ…There are plenty of great sandwich shops in Saigon, but these, are the ones you should visit or order from, during your next Bánh Mi envy.

Banh Mi Huynh Hoa

Huynh Hoa Bakery, located on Lê Thi Rieng Street in Quân 1, has been a culinary destination well known by the ones in the know for the last 30 years. For all those years, the shop has been open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m and has always been crowded with people waiting their turn to buy. The sandwich weighs around 400g and contains dozens of ingredients such as pate, ham, ham, sausage, sausage, pork char siu, and so on, and costs around 60,000 VND.

Tiger Bread

The Bay tiger sandwiches can be found on Huynh Khuong Ninh Street in District 1. For several generations, this has been one of the Saigonese’s favorite addresses and is one of the oldest heirloom bakeries in District 1, and it is only open from the afternoon to the evening. Its main strength is that it serves a delicious banh mi with excellent paté for a very reasonable price: around 20 000 VND.

Banh Mi Hoa Ma

The Hoa Ma bakery, which opened in 1958, is another popular destination in Saigon. The price here is quite high, around 50,000-60,000 VND, but it’s worth it because the product has been improved for 6 decades… Try the pan bread, which is their specialty. At the last minute, eggs, rolls, sausages mixed with onion, ham, bacon, and soya sauce are served, giving Hoa Ma sandwiches a distinct flavor.
