Children are the first victims of misery, sickness, and natural disasters, so SAIGONCHILDREN was created in 1992. Since the first school built in 1994 in the district of Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, (a school with only one room) the program has evolved and today they open 10 new schools every year from kindergarten to vocational school and more than 16,000 disadvantaged children benefit from it in remote regions of Vietnam.

Mr. Alain Cany, Chairman of the Board of SaigonChildren’s Charity, said this January 15 at the opening of the 200th school in the Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province.: “Saigonchildren has now opened 200 schools for children from the south coast of the Mekong Delta to the mountains in the north of Tuyen Quang, but our enthusiasm remains the same as it was in 1992. We continue to work with generous donors and local partners, the People’s Committee, Department of Education & Training, Department of Foreign Affairs and some wonderful friendly organizations. We plan to open ten more schools in 2020″.

Building schools is one of the main pillars of SaigonChildren in Vietnam, the others are scholarships for children, and education programs for special needs.
Since its founding in 1992, SaigonChildren has helped thousands of disadvantaged Vietnamese students access quality education and gain broader opportunities for a better future.
