The school holidays are looming, and so too is the inevitable summer time where children lose school skills over the long summer break and get bored. You can forget a summer holiday in the Mediterranean Sea this year, but Saigon Pony Club is right here in Ho Chi Minh City and “Pony camp” could be a dream ticket for your kids. What’s not to love about amounts of sweets cuddles, uninterrupted grooming, a dose of peer pressure to push your kid out of its comfort zone, and more rosettes than its pinboard can accommodate? Riding offers, in fact, much more than equestrian know-how and can be even a life-enhancing choice for your child.
The Saigon Pony Club
The Saigon Pony Club was designed 10 years ago by a Frenchman Amaury Le Blan who had a daughter madly in love with ponies and horses. The center in the last decade has strengthened its program to meet the needs of equestrians of all ages and riding abilities. Today the club offers riding lessons, certification, dressage, jumping, and summer camps. Whether for pleasure or exercise, your kids will discover there that horses are amazing creatures and that it’s not that difficult to relate to them.
Built on a 4,000sm land in District 9, and conveniently located at 20 minutes from the Saigon Bridge District 2 and 15 minutes from District 7, the Saigon Pony Club is located in a zone known for its strong agricultural community, and passion for animals. If you drive down the country streets you may even see them on a trail ride, while you enjoy the fresh air and pleasant view.
Why Ponies Are Great For Kids
If you’re an equestrian, you already know how beneficial horses are for children. If you’re not, you may be surprised to learn just how constructive horse involvement can be for them.
Wholesome fun
Ponies make wonderful childhood companions. Children are naturally attracted to them, and that makes them a desirable alternative to TV-watching, Internet-surfing, or just “hanging out.” Horseback riding also puts children in touch with nature and can be enjoyed alone or in groups.
When the whole family gets involved, the time spent together with horses can enhance the bond among family members and become the stuff of treasured childhood memories. Moreover, the benefits of horse involvement are enduring, as a child’s “horse habit” can evolve into a rewarding lifelong hobby.
Character development
Handling, riding, and caring for a pony can develop a host of positive traits in a child, including responsibility, accountability, patience, level-headedness, empathy, kindness, and self-discipline. Riding and showing it teach youngsters to prepare and to muster the courage to compete. They learn to take risks, enjoy the rewards, and deal with disappointments.
