Comedy fans are expected to descend on The Hard Rock Cafe Ho Chi Minh City this Sunday, March 21st, for the Saigon Comedy Showcase, organized by Seven Million Bikes.

Hosted by Devin Gray, of Comedy Central Africa fame, 11 of Saigon’s top comedians will each have just 5 minutes to make the crowd laugh! Devin is excited, “Getting back on stage is going to be so much fun, the lockdowns have been hard for comedy in Saigon and it’s time for a big comeback.” While the latest outbreak of COVID -19 was being contained by the authorities recently, all events and comedy shows in Saigon were canceled. Leaving venues empty, organizers with no shows, and comedians kicking their heels for a month.

Event organizer Niall Mackay has been hosting shows around Saigon for over a year now, usually with four comedians performing 15-20 minutes each, or even up to 60 minutes at monthly held, The Headliner show. “Performing alongside some of the most hilarious comedians’ in Vietnam is going to be a blast, especially in bursts of their funniest material

condensed into a 5-minute pocket-rocket of laughter!” adds Wanye Westt, the only

musical-comedy act on the bill.

Comedy fans are looking forward to it as well, “Whenever I see a Seven Million Bikes show coming up, I make it a point to come and laugh my head off, so my wife and I are really looking forward to this!” said Guillermo Lopez. Tickets are already selling fast and Niall is hoping they can sell-out the 300 seat Hard Rock Cafe for the first time. “It would be an incredible achievement and proof that Saigon has an incredible expat comedy scene to compliment the amazing local comics, performing in Vietnamese,” Niall said, referencing local comedy group Saigon Tếu, who have taken Vietnam by storm over the past year.
