Feeling worried about contracting Dengue Fever? A recent study from Science Journal details how those who have previously contracted Dengue Fever may cut their chances of getting Zika down by nearly half.
Dengue, which is prevalent in the South of Vietnam and peaks in the rainy season, is a mosquito-borne illness that results in fever, headaches, and severe joint pain. While cases can be extremely dangerous, most people who contract Dengue Fever go on to make a full recovery in a few weeks. And while no one hopes to come down with the illness, this report can offer at least some hope. The ‘Science’ study reveals that, while Dengue and Zika are closely-related illnesses, contracting the former helps to develop antibodies that can fight the Zika virus. Zika itself poses more serious threats, such as complications with pregnancies and birth defects
