Designed by award-winning South American architect Carlos Zapata and the French company AREP, this 68 floors, lotus bud inspired building, offers from his Skydeck a spectacular 360-degree view on Ho Chi Minh City.
The skyscraper, officially inaugurated on October 31, 2010, belong to the Bitexco Group, the multi-industry corporation and includes mainly offices, a Skydeck, foodcourt, Cinema, Art Spaces, Café, a VIP Bar & Lounge, a Fine dining restaurant and an Helipad to beat the traffic and set off for work in style.
The Bitexco Financial Tower was selected as one of the Top 25 Most Iconic Building’s of the World by CNN and the tallest building in Vietnam until 2011 when it was surpassed by the Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower. Designed as an object to look who welcome newcomers and simultaneously embraces locals, the Tower with it’s sparkling glazed crystalline forms give to everyone a sense of rebirth and forms a bold new addition to the Saigonese skyline.
The Wall & Façade system
The glass used for the façade system come from Belgium and was shipped to China for manufacturing. Each of the 6,000 sleek glass panels enveloping the Bitexco Financial Tower was individually cut to unique specifications because each floor was thought as unique, giving to the building its eye-catching shape.
Built with more than 250 tons of basic steel and 4,000 ultra-solid bolts to hold it together, the heliport took a year to be built and placed at 191 meters high. Only the installation took two months. Most of the materials used come from Europe and South Korea, and the Helipad was Pre-assembly in Dong Nai Province Vietnam.
Bitexco Financial Tower operates Otis double-deck elevators with specialized Compass System, which is the most modern and advanced lift system in Vietnam. With speed up to 7 meters per second, it only takes 35 seconds to each of the 16 lifts to move from the ground floor to the Skydeck.
The Skydeck experience – The Saigon Skydeck on 49th floor
The Saigon Skydeck offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Ho Chi Minh City, guest facilities and a gift shop presenting products coming from the long lasting traditional values of Vietnamese people.
The place is open daily, and for a ticket costing around $ 8-10 you can contemplate from 178 m height the most stunning Ho Chi Minh city view and detailed streets scenes from Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Than Market to the fishing boats and yachts slowly cruising along the Saigon River.
The observatory is equipped with six long-range binoculars with a capability of rotating 360 degrees horizontally and 50 degrees spinning up and down allowing people to view every little street details.
Also, the place proposes six smart touch information screens along the glass wall of the observatory displaying detailed information about the location, scenic spots or historical relics about the place people are watching.
When there, extend your visit with a stop at the Heli Bar on the 51st floor or have a dinner in one of the best town restaurant. Relax and enjoy a refreshing beer or cocktail with delicatessen as the sun sets across the Saigon river and the horizon. Then go back to the Skydeck to watch the city lights twinkling in the night while enjoying the mystical atmosphere displayed by the purple, red and blue neon’s bulbs in action during the evening.
