When you think ‘south’ what pops into your mind? Is it the food, ‘The joie de vivre’?

Alongside spectacular scenery and wonderful food, All the Southern Hemisphere or the Southern regions of the Northern Hemisphere countries have something in common: a wonderful wine-producing reputation.

These regions which see a lot of sunshine, (vineyards receive sometimes more than double the amount of sunshine needed to ripen grapes) with exceptional terroirs and unique grape varieties gave spectacular wines with unique and distinct flavors making off these southern regions the world-renowned wine regions the most adored across the globe, with a universal reputation for all of the above and more.

Their reputation is largely justified and their wines are loved. In Europe, wine is for the French’s an ‘Art de vivre’, for Italians a culture, and on another hand Spaniards are them, marathon drinkers. Australia rised these last years as a wine nation, and is today one of the world’s largest exporters of wine; Chile became the star of Natural Wine Movement while Argentina, which is also one of the biggest wine producers in the world, has also one of the higher wine consumption rates in the world. In fact, the only city which drinks more wine in the world than Buenos Aires is Paris!

This Friday, May 7, le Club Food & Wine Bettane+Dessauve is excited to host at the Villa, Thao Dien a special evening celebrating wines and presenting more than 25 wines from the south – be it the Southern Hemisphere or the Southern regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Of course, European wines will be featured and Australia and South America will be not be forgotten in this selection, with the range of Kilikanoon wines, as well as New Zealand Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, Chile Albaclara, France Crocus l’Atelier, Italy M Merlot, and Vanita Primitivo and Argentina Salentein Barel Selection Malbec.

That night an exquisite combination of flamenco performance and Mediterranean cuisine will be complementarily paired with southern wines to enhance the tasting providing a memorable wine tasting experience.
