Originally, in 1870, the Bolshoi Theater asked Tchaikovsky to write the music of a ballet, but it never happened… Several decades later, a composer by the name of Sergei Prokofiev was responsible for composing the music of Cinderella’s ballet. He began his work in 1940, then suspended it during the Second World War and finished it in 1944.
On April 13 and 14, 2019, with the smashing Prokofiev’s music set in background, HBSO’s ballet at the Saigon Opera will give life to Cinderella with lush romance. Cinderella suffers cruelly in the hands of her mother-in-law and her two half-sisters. She is, however, loving enough to offer bread to a poor beggar woman when she knocks on the door. She hardly knows that the beggar is really her fairy godmother, ready to grant her most fervent wish: to go to the prince’s ball … With a background of beautiful scenery and catchy dances, Cinderella is a triumphant story of courage, hope, wishes and magic for all public audiences.
Choreography: Johanne Jakhelln Constant
With the exceptional participation of Fukuda Hiroya (the prince) and Yuki Hiroshige (The Godmother)
