You’re looking for a pair of sustainable kicks, don’t look anymore, Adidas’s new Stan Smith Mylo shoes could be your next purchase. A while ago Stella McCartney introduced garments made from Mylo a new vegan and sustainable leather alternative and today Adidas released a pair of their iconic Stan Smiths (which has long been one of Adidas’s most popular sneakers) made from the same material. In recent years, the Stan Smiths has been more widely promoted and worn as a lifestyle shoe rather than its original tennis shoe purposes making the joy of the fashionistas. The Stan Smiths Mylo of tomorrow will be made of an entirely biodegradable vegan leather (Mushroom leather)  made from the vegetative part of a fungus developed by biotech firm Bolt Threads.

First launched in 1965, the shoe with a minimalist design was made of white leather. The new Stan Smith Milo will be not white but cream-hued with the upper made from Mylo and a brown rubber midsole.

“The introduction of Mylo as a new material is a major step forward in our bold ambition to help end plastic waste,” said Amy Johns Vaterlaus, Adidas’s Global Head of Future. “[The Stan Smith Mylos were] designed in synergy with Earth’s ecosystems. As a brand, we continue to explore the possibilities in material innovation.” Today nobody knows when the shoe will be released to the public but you can learn more about the Stan Smith Mylo Here
