A Play for Women and the People Who Love Them

Looking for a way to acknowledge International Women’s Day this March 8th? How about marking this important day by attending a theatrical event put on by some of Saigon’s most prominent talents at The Soma Art Lounge?

A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer, a play for women and the people who love them is a show you won’t want to miss. Written by world-renown authors and playwrights including Eve Engler ( Tony Award winning author of The Vagina Monologues) it is a show which features a culturally diverse cast and brings the often sensitive and hard to discuss issues of violence against women, human trafficking, child marriage and prostitution to the forefront of our consciousness, and hopefully our conversations. The writing is inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic and beautiful, but above all, this collection of stories creates a profound portrait of issues which affect each and everyone of us, no matter what our gender, race or religion. It’s meant to be not only eye-opening but thought-provoking and a catalyst for broader social change. The monologues are in English but Vietnamese translation is available and tickets can be booked in advance by sending a message to the V-inclusive Facebook page or at the door.

If you need yet another reason to see this celebrated show, this one will surely put you over the top. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the Little Rose Shelter, a safe space providing shelter, care, education and assistance to young women and girls who are at high-risk or are survivors of sexual abuse and human trafficking in Vietnam. So call your mom, invite your bestie, bring your aunt and your man, be ready to laugh and to cry because this is a play for everyone with a beating heart and a desire to see the world become a safer, more understanding, more loving and inclusive place.

*Disclaimer: The play deals with violence. Some themes may be sensitive for young children. Parental discretion is advised.
