Combining two quintessentially Japanese things into one easy jaunt, the Hello Kitty train is an adorable pink way to get from one destination to another.
Hello Kitty themed train started as a collaboration between Hello Kitty creators Sanrio and JR West in 2018, the Hello Kitty Shinkansen is a single train set that plies the Hakata (Fukuoka) to Shin-Osaka route once each day in both directions. Colored in bright pink and white, the colors of the character created by Sanrio in 1974, this aerodynamic long nose train will welcome passengers in purple and pink armchairs, with white headrests adorned with Hello Kitty.
A car will present a life-size Hello Kitty doll so that fans can take selfies, another car that will not have passenger seats will offer regional specialties, including a selection of products and foods, in order to stimulate the local economy and tourism. This is not the first “original” train circulating in Japan. The train “Anpanman”, named after another Japanese character, rolls in Shikoku, in the south of the country.
