Can Tho will host its annual Southern Folk Cake Festival from April 7 to April 11 at Binh Thuy District Square (Dang Van Street). This year’s theme, “Preserving and Promoting the Value of Southern Folk Cakes,” will feature 200 stalls with over 100 different Southern folk cakes.
Visitors will not only be able to sample many traditional flavors of Southern culinary culture, but they will also be able to participate in activities such as: offering cakes at the temple of King Hung in Can Tho city; the opening ceremony was televised live on Vietnam Television Station (VTV9) in Can Tho city and Can Tho City Radio and Television Station; folk cake contest in Can Tho city in 2022; and demonstrations on how to make traditional cakes.
Many stalls will serve food and display and introduce auxiliary industrial products for folk cakes (raw materials – baking tools); booths will introduce and promote OCOP products, as well as local products.
The Organizing Committee representative stated that the event helps to preserve and promote the value of Vietnamese culinary culture in general, and the value of Southern folk cakes in particular; to create conditions for businesses and tourists to experience, strengthen links, cooperation, investment promotion, and exploitation. Can Tho will use this occasion to inaugurate the Temple of the Hung Kings, commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings (March 10 of the lunar calendar), and commemorate the 47th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the country’s reunification (30th March).
