This year, the qualifications for an ideal travel destination have changed. Rather than heading out internationally, restrictions mean most Vietnamese and foreigners living in Vietnam must stay closer to home. And where a busy metropolis like HCMC, with its endless attractions, was once inevitably alluring, social distancing has made remote, nature-filled places the new sought-after escape. Today, even if Vietnam is Covid 19 free, Hotel lovers are left with the challenge of finding a place that feels safe. Not just clean but considerate, preferably with a low room count, high square-footage, and easy access to the outdoors. (Preferably on the beach of course.) So if you want to go somewhere wild and exciting but quiet and comfortable at the best rates, this Tet holiday you’re in luck, we’ve got you covered. Start to pack your bags!

The White Sand Resort

Nearby on the South China Sea, nestled between HCMC and close to Phan Thiet, you will find the White Sand Resort. It’s a gem within driving distance! The resort owner, Mr. Karl Baker, wanted the White Sand Resort to be a charming Boutique Beach Resort with comfort, good food, and great service. It’s where the soft sand and rolling waves instantly make you forget your worries. As he says, “We are not a 4-star beach resort and won’t pretend to be but we do offer large comfortable bungalows right at the beach surrounded by beautiful gardens and crystal waters”.

Though the White Sand Resort is located only a mile from the town, this tiny gem has an incredibly private feel. With just 26 units the property retains the authentic taste of Vietnamese hospitality. All the rooms, bungalows, and villas are spacious and like the outdoor terraces, every room has a view, either of the sea, the tropical garden, or the swimming pool.

The hotel proposes standard rooms and family room as well as bungalow directly on the beachfront or for the long-term stays villas where custom made bamboo chairs and rattan beds are topped with crisp white linens. All rooms offer comfortable bedding, air-condition, ceiling fans, and a private veranda.

At night you can walk right down by to the water to eat the local seafood. And it’s delicious!

Seafood is a must-have in Phan Thiet and the hotel will arrange for private barbecues on the beach for parties of five or more.

The hotel features also the White Sand Bistro offering Vietnamese and western dishes all day long, a free form pool and beach bar, a spa with a steam room and sauna, and a gym room. But the greatest plus? The White Sand Resort is one of the rare hotels in Vietnam to be a pet-friendly resort so that you can appreciate your stay without having to leave your four-legged friend behind.

The White Sand Resort lured travelers to its shores long before Phan Thiet became popular

Phan Thiet – Mui Né always delivers—be it sunshine, natural white sandy beaches, microclimate, fresh seafood, coconut groves, or surf. Even the air of the place seems to be filled with palpable magic among the dune sand, jungles, and coral reefs, and the White Sand Resort lured travelers to its shores long before Phan Thiet became popular.

Indeed, Karl Baker opened the White Sand Resort in 2004 on a large piece of land right by the ocean. From the very beginning he called it his second home. From then on, with the help of his friendly staff, he created just that – a comfortable cozy home away from home for anybody looking to spend relaxing days by the sea.

Tet is the Lunar New Year, so Happy New Year once again. Now get packing and head out for a few days in paradise!
