ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD – CGV
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer, Mark Wahlberg
Genre: Crime, Mystery
Release date: Jan 12, 2018
Language: English with Vietnamese subtitle
The film traces one of the highlights of the 70s: in 1973, a teenager, grandson of American billionaire Paul Getty, is kidnapped in Rome. Its kidnappers claim a ransom of $ 17 million, but Getty, nicknamed “the richest man in the world”, categorically refuses to pay this sum, despite his daughter-in-law, who fears never to see her boy again … The film has the usual qualities and flaws of Ridley Scott’s cinema. To his credit, a breathtaking narration and an impeccable epochal reconstruction; and on the other side a relative coldness to evoke a case quite emotional…Scott’s British phlegm? Michelle Williams, in the role of the mother of the kidnapped child, manages nevertheless to bring punctually some emotion into the story, but it will be understood: “All the money in the world” has not to be watched as a classic thriller, but as a film that has survived brilliantly to its avatars. Indeed, the British filmmaker had to removed from his cast the controversial Kevin Spacey by Christopher Plummer in a record time…
