THE FOOD TOURISM IN HCMC

 

 

Do you believe the best way to experience a culture is through food ?

If yes, as a taste trecker, being in Saigon is a paradise as the town present a plethore of restaurants and plan to focus in a very near future to develop more the food tourism.

Last week, La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of the municipal Department of Tourism declared at a seminar on cuisine value and tourism that Ho Chi Minh City cuisine is a product that needs to be developed to turn tourism into a key industry. The department plan to form cuisine streets to serve tourists, improve the cuisine sector’s human resources and intensify participation in both domestic and foreign food-related events such as The Southern cuisine festival, Fruit festival etc. already existing in town.

Great iniatiative, as food serves to connect people with the land, the heritage, and the society. It is a diverse and dynamic channel for sharing stories, forming relationships and building communities. By combining local food with travel, food tourism will offers both locals and tourists alike an authentic taste of place while contributing to a sustainable world economy.
