Surfing in Indonesia is a dream for many surfers around the world. Great surfing schools, good weather conditions all the year, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Java, and Sumatra are some of the best places to ride!
Bali is the epicenter of Indonesian surfing. Kuta beach is an interesting spot for beginners because of its sand beach breaks and many surf schools. To find the best big waves go to Bukit Peninsula and Padang.
South of Bali, Nusa Tenggara is an island chain famous for its Surf spots. Lombok offers very good conditions, nice tube rides and some of the best waves in the world. Don Don and Ekas are the two other good spots of the island.
The best waves of Java can be found in G-Land. Beginners will prefer the Batu Karas beach sand with many schools and places to rent a room.
Nias is the most famous surf spot of Sumatra but after the 2004 Tsunami, the waves are faster. The Mentawai Islands are another excellent surf spot but more expensive.
