Street food we love it! It’s food, it’s feel good, it’s insanely great flavors, it’s inexpensive, and it’s community. If you like your food, you’ll already know what it’s like to stand among the smokes and aromas, beer in one hand, food in the other, chatting to your mate over the buzz of the crowds around you. It feels terrific. And if you don’t know the feeling? Then it’s time you open your eyes and go there.
Saigon opened this Monday it’s second street food zone in Bach Tung Diep Park, close to Reunification Palace, Dist 1, after opening a first one in Nguyen Van Chiem Street behind the Notre Dame Cathedral, exactly one month before. The opening of these 2 street food zones is part of the district’s acclaimed efforts to clean up its sidewalks zone; The second opening is meant to be dedicated exclusively to low-income vendors who do not have to pay fees to sell their food.
The first zone opened the last August serves only takeaway, but the second one houses 30 vendors selling food from 15 stalls from 6 Am to 9 Am and from 11 Am to 2 Pm and has tables and benches for customers to sit down and have their meals. Street food revitalizes city centers. It rejuvenates out-of-favor markets and brings people together. And that’s why we love it!
