The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam launched their annual Japanese Film Festival in HCMC last Friday 28. It will run until the 6 November at Dong Da Cinema, Dist 1 – HCMC, from 11 November to 20 November in Hanoi, and then in Da Nang from November 25 to 27.

Youth Drama, Family, Suspense, Animation, Documentary… 8 various films will be screened at Cinema. All film are new works, most of them from 2016. All films will be screened with both English and Vietnamese subtitles.

During the first evening, “Chihayafuru” and “Chihayafuru II” by director Norihiro Koizumi, based on the famous series of Yuki Suetsugu eponymous manga, were projected.

The Anthem of the Heart   (2015/dir. NAGAI Tatsuyuki)


The admission free at HCMC and Hanoi is 30,000VND each screening. At Danang, admission is free, but the audience is advised to obtain free tickets at following venues.

Note for the audience in Hanoi and HCMC: Please keep your ticket number until the end of each screening to join a lucky draw game. Winner of the game will be gifted with the film festival’s T-shirt.

From this year, Japan Foundation Asia Center unifies Japanese Film Festival around Southeast Asia and Pacific area. JFF 2016 will be screened in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Thai, and Australia.
