HO CHI MINH FIRST INTERNATIONAL MARATHON THIS WEEKEND

 

 

 

The first International Saigon marathon will take place this year this 26th November in Ho Chi Minh City. Three races of 10, 21 and 42 km will start from the Saigon Zoo at the historic Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, follow a route past key Ho Chi Minh City landmarks, before finishing in the new urban area of Thu Thiem. Inspired by the original Ho Chi Minh City Marathon that was run from 1994 – 1996, this new marathon sponsored by Techcombank CEO will welcome 4000 athletes from 44 countries and many tourists to discover and experience Ho Chi Minh City in a different light.

Runners participating in the Marathon will experience a unique course that pays homage to the city’s rich history and culture while unveiling the changes taking place as the city embraces its exciting and dynamic future. To complement the marathon and to engage and promote youth in sports, a fun run for kids aged 14 and under will be organized on Saturday, November 25 in the newly developed Thu Thiem area. This event will encourage children to experience the fun and benefits of pursuing an active and healthy lifestyle.

 

 

Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon

 

Beware, that for the International Marathon, Saigon will close downtown his streets from Saturday 12.00 pm to Sunday 12 pm, Nguyen Binh Khiem will be closed between Nguyen Huu Canh and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. The section on Le Duan between Nguyen Binh Khiem and Dinh Tien Hoang will also be shut down. Always on Sunday, between 4. Am to 7.00 Am, the traffic will be blocked on Le Duan between Dinh Tien Hoang and Cathedral Square, a part of Ton Duc Thang running from Nguyen Huu Canh to Khanh Hoi Bridge, and all of Dong Khoi. Three-Wheeled vehicles driving will also be restricted on Sunday between 7.00 Am to 10.00 Am on the section of Vo Van Kiet between Rach Cay Bridge and Ton Duc Thang.
