« Carol » is based on a Patricia Highsmith novel first published as « The Price of Salt » under a pseudonym. The film is about the secret passionate relationship between 2 women in the 1950s and has been named the best LGBT film of all time by the London LGBT Film Festival.

Carol (Cate Blanchett) meets Therese a young saleswoman who is about to go on a trip with her fiance. Therese is seduced, and Carole invites her to spend the weekend in her lavish home. Divorced she tries to rebuild his life. The film is creamily sensuous; every camera movement seems to show a state of mind; everything is richly observed, handsomely detailed and furnished. ”The screen is full of red, green and vintage bright colors, and full of good Fifties design which finds meaning in the smallest details. From the first meeting to the last seconds the film uses the path of hot passion with subtlety and show us that despite the reassuring masks the society use, the moralism never yields.

Carol received six Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe Award nominations, and nine BAFTA Award nominations as well as awards from the New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and National Society of Film Critics. The film was named one of the best films of 2015 by numerous critics and publications; appearing on over 130 Top Ten lists.
