Nguyen Van Chiem street, in District 1, is the new food street in Saigon since yesterday, meant to create a new destination for locals and tourists in the city.  The ‘meals avenue’ is now the brand new home for forty eateries and food stall who formerly occupied the pavements in streets across District 1. Only open between 6.00 Am and 9 Am and from 11 Am to 1.00 P.m in the afternoon, the place welcome 20 stands for the first hours  and 20 others from 11 Am to 1.00 pm.

Sellers wearing uniforms featuring name tags will treat there the customers with typical Vietnamese meals but only for take away. The eateries will be placed on strict management and will receive regular health inspection mention the District 1 administration. Critics say the two windows are too short, and that it must stay open during the days and/or night to attract more visitors while some others say that the real essence of the street food is to be eaten sit in the street…
