Ten years ago, few would have predicted that millions of pieces of glass bottles, thrown into a bay, could transform a simple beach in a stunning one.
30 Minutes from Vladivostok in Russia, the Ussuri beach was used for years as dumping ground of unwanted glass by local glass and porcelain factories.
However, nature always has a way to fix human’s fault. After years, that dangerous garbage rounded smooth by the ocean has turn Ussuri into a beautiful and unique destination: a colourful kaleidoscope beach attracting thousand of tourists every year. Known in Russian as Steklyashka, the beach is perhaps at its most stunning in winter when the ice and snow highlight the glass as sparkling gems.
