The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has confirmed their plan of increasing the number of domestic flights during Tet Holiday with a total of nearly 1300 extra flights, which is 8.5% higher than the standard flight rate. Tan Son Nhat International Airport of HCMC is expected to increase 1,065 flights, with an average of 38 flights / day. Vietnam Airlines, the national company, will also increases its flights to 380, supplying a total of 76 758 seats. Additionally, Vietjet will also raise the number of its flight to 560 (about 100,800 seats more), followed by Jetstar Pacific with 330 flights and 59,400 seats. With this number of flights, the ACV estimated that Tan Son Nhat would serve 807 flights in peaks day!
According to Le Manh Hung, General Director of ACV, Tan Son Nhat airport has the highest density compared to the 20 other airports across the country, and is the busiest airport during Tet time, which create a great pressure on infrastructures, equipment and human resources. However, the ACV already confirmed that they will mobilize 100% of their human resources and facilities to provide the best service for all the customers.
